Junction 9
Inspired by the term Biophilia; the notion that an instinctive bond exists between human beings and other living systems. Holland Design worked with the Junction 9 team to understand how Bioliphic design encourages the use of natural material and textures, patterns and processes, views and symbolic images of nature, sunlight and orientation as it relates to the built environment.
From the beautiful parametric screen made from 100 year old reclaimed barn wood (designed by Moda Architects) to the historical structural beams that were re-purposed into a central community table; the team was able to create an organic and layered experience for the individual user to connect with. Junction 9 is located in Calgary’s vibrant belt-line community of Inglewood. It’s comprised of a Coffee Shop, a yoga studio, a 16 person group pilates studio and a private pilates studio.
